Attention Students and Members,

The AIHA Chicago Local Section is pleased to announce that the AIHA Chicago Local Section Student Night 2024 will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Crowne Plaza Chicago SW - Burr Ridge, 300 S. Frontage Road, Burr Ridge, IL 60527. The AIHA Chicago Local Section Student Night is an event which enables students to network with professionals as well as present their research projects via posters or podium presentations.

This year, we will receive an AIHA National update from AIHA's Board of Directors member Eric White, MPH, CIH, CSP who will be attending the event.

The Chicago Local Section encourages undergraduate students to use research they have completed to create a research poster to bring to Student Night. This would be a poster like what one would present at AIHA Connect. The posters will be reviewed and judged by the attendees and monetary prizes will be given to the winners. Undergraduates will attend to their posters to discuss issues and answer questions posed by attendees.

Graduate students may also participate with podium presentations. They are asked to compile a brief PowerPoint presentation (or equivalent) and individually present their work to the student night attendees. Presentations should be approximately seven minutes long with three minutes allotted for question and answers (7-10 slides). Graduate students will not be required to develop a physical poster for the event.

Presentations may be uploaded via online form, as part of a new, preferred submission process detailed below. As usual, the presentations can be hand delivered on an external storage drive at the event and/ or emailed prior to the event to michael.baquiran@abbott.com.

Following dinner, we will conduct various networking icebreakers and present any internship opportunities from our various members!

3:00 – 4:00 Board of Directors Meeting

4:30 – 5:00 Registration & Undergraduate Poster Setup

5:00 – 5:45 Undergraduate Poster Presentations and e-Voting

5:45 – 7:00 Dinner Announcements followed by Graduate Student Podium Presentations

7:00 – 8:00 Dessert & Job-Sector Roundtables

Prizes:
Graduate prize: $300 for first place and $200 for second place

Undergraduate: $250 for first place and $150 for second place

Voting: 
Voting will be managed using the polleverywhere.com app which allows for voting using a smartphone app, text-message/SMS, or via web on a laptop/tablet. Live voting results will announced to the attendees in real time based on the e-voting results. Security measures to prevent repeat voting and ballot-stuffing will be in place. The Poll Everywhere app is available for free download from your smartphone’s app store.

Affiliate Members & Guests: $40

If you are not provided the option to register as a Full Member for the event, even though you have recently updated your membership status via AIHA National Registration, please register as an Affiliate Member/Guest and bring proof of Full Member status to the event.

Students, please inform your instructor(s) that you will be attending the event as well. Please ensure your roster information has been submitted to ensure you have access to FREE Student registration.
