AIHA Chicago Local Section Event - Half Day Tour and PDC
Please join us for a tour into the 250 foot underground Conco Limestone Mine. Conco produces over one million tons of limestone per year and offers 22 products to customers. Come and observe daily tasks such as scaling, crushing, hauling and drilling. Prior to the tour, learn how silica dust and diesel particulate matter (DPM) are controlled during these tasks and in an underground environment.
Event is limited to 15 attendees. Grab your steel toed boots (or carbon fiber) and register ASAP!

Speakers:
Angie Nickel, CSP - Angie Nickel has over 10 years experience in the construction materials industry, primarily serving in a Safety role. Currently, she is the Regional Health and Safety Manager for aggregate, ready mix and cement terminal locations spanning over 4 states and employing 800 individuals. She has been involved with the American Industrial Hygiene Association for a number of years in various roles. She also serves as the Committee Chair for the Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers Safety Committee.
Becky Kazmierski, PG - Becky graduated with geology degrees from Eastern Illinois University (B.S. - 1998) and Northern Illinois University (M.S – 2001) and is a licensed Professional Geologist in Illinois and Indiana. She began working in the mining and ready mix concrete industry in 1999 as a Quality Control technician and geologist at Meyer Material Company based out of northern Illinois.
She moved back to the mining industry in 2015 working for LafargeHolcim (now Holcim), a company that supplies cement and construction aggregates worldwide. She began as the aggregate supervisor at the Material Performance Center in Romeoville, IL, where she oversaw all related laboratory testing for aggregates. Currently, she is the Mine Engineer for the Conco Underground limestone and dolomite mine based out of North Aurora, IL.
Becky is active in industry organizations including: Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers (IAAP), Public Information and Education (PIE) Committee, American Concrete Institute (ACI) – Illinois Chapter, State of Illinois Division of Professional Regulation – Geology
