Heat stress typically does not come to mind during December in Chicago, but this is the perfect opportunity to develop or re-assess your organization’s heat stress program with assistance from local area experts!

Speaker Bios:

Anthony “Tony” DiMaggio is a health, safety, and environmental (HSE) consultant at Chubb Global Risk Advisors. Mr. DiMaggio provides traditional industrial hygiene services to clients within the manufacturing, oil & gas, chemical, food & beverage, aerospace, pharmaceutical, and aggregate industries. Mr. DiMaggio also conducts occupational disease claims investigations for internal and external clients. With over 13 years in the HSE consulting industry, Mr. DiMaggio has broad-based experience in identifying, evaluating, and controlling occupational health issues in various environments. Mr. DiMaggio earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health from Illinois State University and is certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.

Mike Schmoldt in an Industrial Hygienist at Argonne National Laboratory. He earned his BS/MS at the University of Iowa in Environmental Engineering, MS in Occupational Health at the University of Michigan, MBA at Edgewood College in Madison, WI and is currently completing his Ph.D dissertation at Washington State University. Mr. Schmoldt is a Registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin, Certified Industrial Hygienist and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.

Mr. Schmoldt has managed heat stress programs for construction firms, industry, and governmental agencies such as:

  • Olin Corp. Ordnance Division
  • Montgomery Watson Harza Constructors,
  • NASA Plumbrook, OH site decomissioning
  • Fluor/CH2M Hill and URS/AECOM at the Dept. of Energy Hanford nuclear facility in WA state

His employer at the Hanford site was awarded the National Safety Council Innovation award, and OSHA’s VPP award for Innovation for the Physiological Monitoring program he developed, which has been shared with over a dozen other DOE facilities and laboratories and industries that must meet the requirements of the ACGIH heat stress Threshold Limit Values (TLVs).

Mr. Schmoldt was nominated by NIOSH and is currently serving on a National Academy of Sciences committee on Respiratory Protection.

Bogdan Catalin began his career in 2010 with OSHA as an Industrial Hygienist in the Chicago North Area Office. Bogdan has conducted inspections in both general industry and construction. Bogdan has experience in public health research; risk analysis; hazard evaluation and control; development and implementation of training programs and exercises in both government and academia. Bogdan holds graduate degrees in Public Health, specializing in Risk Assessment, Air Quality and Toxicology from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
